It’s that time of year again – two of the biggest dates in the world yachting and boating calendar. Arguably the main event of what the yachting industry refers to as boat show season, the 27th Monaco Yacht Show has started, with 4 days of yacht-hopping and cocktail parties. A little further down the coast, there’s the extraordinary show of sailing with Les Voiles de Saint Tropez, the world’s fastest maxi-yachts racing each other for line honours. 1. Monaco Yacht Show
With the glamorous backdrop of Port Hercules, it’s four days of cocktails and yacht-hopping at the Monaco Yacht Show. - The prize for the newest boat goes to the out-of-this-world vessel Galactica Super Nova. It’s her official unveiling at the Monaco boat show, after having completed being built earlier this year; she measures in at 70 metres.
- The prize for the largest yacht is Athena, at 90 metres. Athena is for sale for $69,900,000.
3. Les Voiles de St Tropez Sailing Regatta
Every year at the end of September, Saint Tropez welcomes more than 300 sailing boats into its harbour for the Rolex Les Voiles de St Tropez yacht regatta. During Les Voiles de St Tropez, the Brigantin II tour boat has a two hour tour alongside these beautiful yachts, and they really do get right amongst the sailing action, with amazing opportunities for photos up close to the racing yachts.
